Celebrating World Elephant Day 2026: Learn, Care, Conserve!

On the occasion of World Elephant Day 2026, an engaging awareness programme on Project Elephant, a Government of India initiative launched in 1992, was conducted by Dr Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Ganeshnagar, for students of the Middle School and Secondary Section.

A meaningful pledge was taken through the Public Address System, reaffirming the students’ commitment towards wildlife and environmental conservation. An exciting painting competition provided students with a creative platform to express their love and concern for elephants. Informative videos were screened in classrooms, followed by insightful discussions led by teachers on the significant role elephants play in maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity.

Through these enriching activities, students learnt about conserving the Asian elephant, protecting its natural habitats and promoting harmonious human–elephant coexistence. The programme fostered empathy, creativity, collaboration and environmental responsibility, inspiring young minds to become compassionate stewards of nature and contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
