Technology plays a major role in the life of a 21st century learner. We at Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School - Secondary Section believe in integrating technology into the curriculum and providing access to technology to all the students, such as for projects, research, problem solving and other computing activities. Our Secondary School lab is equipped with computers, LCD projectors, visualizers and tabs. We have partnered with CS Pathsahala to bring modern computing curriculum to Indian school (https://cspathshala.org). The computer lab is supported with 3 well equipped audio visual rooms to help integrate technology in the curriculum.
My library is a hub of communal activity for the school and is a storehouse of more than 13,000 books, journals, and magazines. The books are issued according to the pace of reading of the student. We encourage our students to suggest titles/genres of books both fiction and nonfiction to add to the vast collection of books. In the library, the books are classified class-wise in the open shelves and the students can also access information and reading material online in the media corner of the library.
Today our understanding of literacy encompasses the capacity to read, understand and critically appreciate various forms of communication including spoken language, printed text, and digital content. Numeracy encompasses the ability to use mathematical understanding and skills to solve problems and meet the demands of day-to-day living. These labs train the students to use interesting and engaging strategies to develop literacy and numeracy skills.
The physics and chemistry labs provide firsthand experience to the students to perform experiments, develop observation skill and learn to record data.
All students of grade 5-10 learn elements of both Indian classical and Western Music. They are encouraged to participate in Intra and Interschool events. KHSG provides a one of its kind platform to the students in Pune to showcase their talent in Indian classical music and dance genres through the flagship program titled Bal Sangeet and Nritya Mahotsav.
Art education encourages the students to think imaginatively and bring fresh ideas. It also helps the students to express themselves and think outside the box.
Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country by establishing Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in schools. The objective of this scheme is to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds, and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc.
