Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Ganeshnagar, in collaboration with Magicraft Productions, arranged the premiere of the Kannada film Kidigalu exclusively for the students of Grades VI and VII on the occasion of Children’s Day.
The film is produced and directed by K. S. Ramesh, who has created and directed magical effects for iconic productions such as Amitabh Bachchan’s Jadugar, Kamal Haasan’s Pushpaka Vimana, Rakesh Roshan’s King Uncle, Shah Rukh Khan’s Baadshah, Shankar Nag’s Malgudi Days, and Mithun Chakraborty’s Phir Kabhi, among others. Kidigalu is his first independent film and has been officially selected for the 33rd International Film Festival for Children and Youth, Iran (2020).
The auditorium was buzzing with excitement and anticipation. The film beautifully demonstrates that language poses no barrier when it comes to connecting with children.
It tells a simple yet captivating story of how the children of a small town called Kalasa learn magic from a travelling magician and raise funds to build a “temple of happiness.” True to its name, the movie spread its “sparks,” lighting up the faces of the students with joy and delight and the children could not stop talking about how much they enjoyed this ‘memorable’ day.
