Guest Lecture on “Biophysics: Career Opportunities and Research in Germany”

Date: 20 July 2026

Attendees: 60+ XII Standard Biology Students from Band D Division

Guest Speaker: Dr. Tanmay Sadhanasatish

A guest lecture on “Biophysics: Career Opportunities and Research in Germany” was organized on 20 July 2026 for the students of Class XII Biology. The session was delivered by Dr. Tanmay Sadhanasatish, who shared his academic journey, research experiences, and valuable insights into the field of biophysics.

Dr. Tanmay began the lecture by describing his educational journey from KHS, Baner to pursuing higher studies and research in Germany. He explained how students with an interest in both Biology and Physics can build successful interdisciplinary careers in biophysics. He emphasized that a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Science can open doors to diverse career opportunities beyond conventional research, including science communication, research management, and other interdisciplinary fields.

The lecture introduced students to the exciting world of biophysics and several emerging technologies used in modern biological research. One of the major highlights was Super-Resolution Fluorescence Microscopy, an advanced imaging technique that enables scientists to visualize cellular structures at a much higher resolution than conventional light microscopy. Students gained an appreciation of how such technologies are transforming biological research.

Dr. Tanmay also discussed higher education opportunities in Germany, describing the academic environment, university life, and the research culture. He shared details of the research projects he has been involved in and offered practical advice for aspiring researchers. He explained that laboratory work often requires long hours of dedication and emphasized the importance of self-motivation, perseverance, and maintaining a supportive circle of friends for a successful research career. He also shared his personal experiences of living and working in Germany, giving students a realistic perspective on life abroad.

The lecture was highly informative and inspiring. It broadened the students’ understanding of career opportunities in biophysics, introduced them to cutting-edge scientific technologies, and motivated them to explore interdisciplinary research and higher education opportunities. The interactive session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, during which students enthusiastically clarified their doubts and interacted with the speaker.

The Biology Department expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Tanmay Sadhanasatish for delivering such an enlightening and motivating lecture. The session was greatly appreciated by both students and faculty members.
