One Heart, One Voice, One Community
The first-ever Pune Prabhat Pheri was organised on 25th July 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, through the joint efforts of the Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri Kalashetra and Mr Punit Joshi, Corporator, PMC Ward No. 29. The event was conceived and thoughtfully curated by acclaimed Carnatic Vocalist Nandini Rao as a heartfelt initiative to revive the timeless tradition of Nagara Sankeertana in the sacred city of Punyanagari.
Inspired by India’s rich Bhakti tradition, the Prabhat Pheri was envisioned as a celebration of devotion, unity, and cultural heritage. The streets were filled with the soul-stirring sounds of devotional music, while an atmosphere of serenity, reverence, and joyful togetherness was created through collective singing, prayer, and fellowship. Community bonds were strengthened, cultural traditions were honoured, and the day was begun with positivity and the chanting of the Divine Name.
More than 150 enthusiastic students, parents, teachers, and community members, elegantly dressed in traditional attire and carrying cymbals, were brought together for this memorable procession. A devotional walk from Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Ganeshnagar, to the Vitthal Mandir, Karvenagar, was undertaken amidst the melodious singing of abhangas and the continuous chanting of Lord Vitthal’s name. The spiritual fervour was heightened by the rhythmic beats of the traditional dhol and tasha, while the procession was enlivened by joyous dancing and radiant smiles.
On reaching the temple, a heartfelt aarti was offered, and prasad was distributed to all. The event was concluded on a deeply spiritual note, and every participant was left with a profound sense of peace, fulfilment, and divine bliss. The Prabhat Pheri was cherished as a memorable celebration of faith, culture, and community, leaving behind lasting memories and a renewed spirit of devotion.
