As part of the Science Subject Enrichment project (2023-24), sixth-grade students, accompanied by their teachers, embarked on educational visits to a Plastic Recycling Unit, ‘Clean Garbage Management,’ and ‘Pune Handmade Paper’ facilities.
During these visits, students gained a comprehensive understanding of the recycling processes, witnessing the transformation from raw materials (plastic waste) to the final products (plastic granules) at the Clean Garbage Management workshop. Similarly, at the Pune Handmade Paper factory, they observed the creation of paper using recycled materials, without the utilization of wooden pulp.
Engaging actively with the authorities, students posed numerous questions to clarify their understanding. For many students, this was their first visit to this kind of recycling factory.
The experience proved enriching for both students and teachers alike, prompting a collective decision among the students to minimize single-use plastic in their daily routines as a contribution to environmental preservation.
Students shared their experience and learning with the whole school in the auditorium.
