Adopt a River Stretch 2025

The Jeevit Nadi session was conducted on the banks of the Mutha River on Wednesday, 17 December 2025. During this session, the students observed different types of plants and birds, but most importantly, they examined the condition of the river water. The facilitators conducted a simple Dissolved Oxygen (DO) test, which helps determine water purity. The minimum DO level required for the water to be considered safe is 4. However, the river water did not meet this level, as it tested between 3 and 4. Last year, the water was much cleaner. The degradation this year is suspected to be due to a diverted sewage line. The water appeared dark, there were plastic items in some areas, and people were also washing clothes along the riverbank.
