On Saturday, 18th January 2026, 28 students of Grades 7 and 8 from Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Ganeshnagar visited the Chinmaya Swami Mission, Lohegaon, a global spiritual organization that has completed 75 years of spreading the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita across 25 countries. To commemorate this milestone, a Gita Mela was organized at the Chinmaya Mauli Ashram, Lohegaon, Pune.
The visit began with students being guided to the temple, where facilitators introduced them to the Geeta Panchamrit—the first five important shlokas of the Bhagavad Gita. These shlokas help awaken love and reverence for the Gita and explain what we, as seekers, should do and how Bhagwan guides us when we surrender with faith.
After this, students visited the Gita Mela, which consisted of 18 stalls, each representing one chapter (Adhyaya) of the Bhagavad Gita. The essence of each chapter was explained through interactive and activity-based methods, making the concepts simple, memorable, and enjoyable. Chapters such as Arjuna Vishada Yoga, Sanyasa Yoga, and Karma Yoga were presented in engaging ways.
One notable activity was at the Arjuna Vishada Yoga stall. Two paintings were displayed, and students were blindfolded and asked to place a bindi on the forehead of the paintings. They found it difficult to do so alone. However, when guided by a friend, they successfully completed the task. This activity symbolized how Arjuna, confused on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, was guided by Lord Krishna, and similarly, in our lives, parents, teachers, and friends guide us during difficult times.
Students visited most of the stalls, and each stall conveyed valuable teachings from the Gita. The session concluded with a 15-minute video showcasing the life journey of Swami Chinmayananda.
Overall, the visit helped students connect the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to their daily lives in a joyful and meaningful way. The interactive approach ensured that students could easily understand and relate to the shlokas, making the experience both enriching and memorable.
