At Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, we believe in nurturing future leaders by giving students real-life experiences that matter. The recently conducted Student Council Elections for Grades 8, 9, and 10 were a true celebration of democracy — planned, executed, and participated in with great enthusiasm.
This year, nominations were conducted using the principles of Sociocracy – where each student and teacher submitted their choices for potential candidates. These inputs were thoughtfully consolidated to prepare the final list of nominees.
Campaigns came alive across the school campus – in morning assemblies, during breaks, and inside classrooms, as candidates passionately shared their visions and rallied support.
The voting was held on 19th June in the school’s computer lab, through a specially developed online voting software created by our talented alumnus, Nitish Kulkarni. This made the process smooth, efficient, and tech-enabled.
Through this simulated election process, students not only exercised their right to vote, but also gained a hands-on understanding of the democratic process, its values, and its responsibilities.
Kudos to all the participants, nominees, and voters who made this experience meaningful and memorable!
