On 24th February 2024, members of Kalam Centre embarked on a meaningful visit to a government school. The primary objective was to educate and engage students on essential topics through interactive presentations and activities. The school chosen was Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay English Medium school.

The activities were conducted for the students of standard 8, as they touched important topics which require exposure at a ripe age.

The session commenced with a PowerPoint presentation on Cyber Security, presented by a fellow volunteer. Topics such as cyber threats, bullying, scams etc were covered. Moreover, students were also given information regarding precautionary measures and the actions which need to be taken in times of emergency. A quiz which covered the topics was also taken right after, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the interactive students.

Further, 4 Kalam members enacted a small skit, discussing the structure and illustrating the functioning of the Indian Parliament in a simplified and entertaining manner. This was followed by another PowerPoint presentation regarding the same. The students enjoyed learning about the Parliament in depth with the help of many examples.

The students exhibited enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the sessions, showing keen interest in both the chosen topics. They were also elated to interact with Kalam members, showing their appreciation with a frequent applause.

Interactive elements such as the quiz and skit contributed to a lively and engaging learning environment.

The visit to Dindayal School was a meaningful endeavor in promoting education on cyber security and parliamentary knowledge among students. It highlighted two of the four pillars of the Kalam Centre, namely, Education and Governance. The combination of activities proved helpful for not only educating the young children, but also making the learning process enjoyable. The students as well as the teachers greatly appreciated the session and requested frequent such activities! The success of this activity highlighted the importance of such outreach programs in fostering awareness in young audiences.
