Visit to Indian Drug Research Association and Laboratory, Shivajinagar, Pune.

A visit of students of Std. 11 was planned, to Indian Drug Research Association and Laboratory 24th January 2024. The purpose of the visit was to explain some basic aspects of analytical chemistry. The students got an excellent opportunity to explore different concepts of new laboratory techniques.

The laboratory technicians explained the concept of specific gravity through experiment. The students were introduced to various machines like digital PH meter, Polari meter, digital melting point apparatus, HPLC instrument, U.V. spectrometer, a soxhlet extractor, distillation assembly, micro pipettes, autoclave, oven etc.

The concept of how to check diameter and width of tablet by using digital Vernier caliper, hardness of tablet, dissolution capacity of tablet etc. was explained to the students.

Students got an insight into microbiology as well. They visited the animal house in which few rabbits and rats were kept for animal testing purpose.

The overall visit to Indian Drugs Analysis and Research Laboratory was fruitful.
