Career fest 2023

Summary:
Career fest 2023 arranged by Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao Junior college, aimed to guide and inspire 11th and 12th standard students in making informed career choices. The purpose of this event was to introduce students with various career streams through seminars by experts from various conventional and unconventional fields along with interactive stalls setup by prominent institutions. Held on 9th December 2023 within college campus, this one day festival featured seminars and interactive stalls for students of Science, Commerce and Arts fields.

 

Introduction:
Choosing a career is one of the, if not the most, important aspect of students and parents of 11th and 12th std. It defines the future course of professional and personal journey of students and is a stepping stone to the many dreams they wish for.

The primary goal of the Career Festival 2023 was to provide students and parents with valuable insights into various career paths, connect them with professionals, and facilitate meaningful discussions to aid their career decision-making process. This program had the privilege to host various experts from the fields such as, Designing, Psychology, Mass Media and Journalism, Dramatics, Entrepreneurship, Education Abroad, Artificial Intelligence, Career in Defence, Architecture and Design, Sound Engineering, Business Administration, Law, Management Studies, Banking and Finance.

 

Objectives

  • Connect students with professionals from various industries.
  • Facilitate discussions on career-related topics.

To explore careers in Arts we invited speakers such as Mr. Ninad Panse (Designing), Ms. Sonal Bavadekar (Psychology), Mr. Devadatta Bhingarkar (Mass Media and Journalism), Mrs Swati Upadhye (Dramatics), Mr. Mandar Lele (Entrepreneurship).

 

To explore careers in Commerce speakers such as Dr. Shweta Bapat (Business Administration (B.B.A.)), Adv. Aashish Patankar (Careers in Law), Mr. Chintan Shah (Management Studies), Mr. Aniket Pohekar (Banking and Finance) offered their valuable insights.

 

And lastly for careers in Science guest speakers were Mrs. Bakhtawar Krishnan (Education Abroad), Dr. Apoorva Shastri (Artificial Intelligence), Col. Pradeep Brahmankar (Career in Defence), Dr. Shubhada Kamalapurkar – (Architecture and Design), Mr. Abhijeet Patwardhan (Sound Engineering).

 

Interactive Booths and Exhibits:
Representatives from renowned institutions and universities set up interactive booths, providing students with valuable information about educational programs and career opportunities. Several stalls were set up for exploring opportunities for students abroad in various countries. Students and parents were able to interact with representatives from these institutes to understand their operations and ask questions.

 

Student Feedback:
Feedback from students indicated a positive impact, with many expressing gratitude for the exposure to diverse career options and the opportunity to interact with professionals. They found it insightful and informative and seemed to be meeting the specific career goals of maximum. As per the students, the event was well organised however, some suggested it to involve fields like Liberal arts, stock exchange, fashion designing, astronomy, etc.

 

Conclusion:
The Career Fest was a resounding success, providing students with a platform to explore, learn, and plan their future careers. We extend our gratitude to all participants, organizers for contributing to the success of this impactful event.
