BUSINESS IDEA GENERATION

Life school first activity started with the sessions about the Business Idea Generation, Which was taken by the senior college teacher Dr. Deepa Sathe – MCOM, Bed, M.Phil., Ph.D. She is working as Head of Department and Coordinator at Senior college at Kaveri college since 15 years. She has completed her MPhil and Ph.D. in the domain of Business Administration from BMCC and has participated in many National and International conferences presenting more the 10 research papers.

 

SESSION 1

The first session was held 3rd October at 11.45am to 12.30pm, in Biology lab. The workshop started with the introduction of resource person Dr. Seema Sathe by Mrs. Sheetal ma’am. The introduction of students to the resource person, has also taken place.
The first session mainly focused on understanding the different aspects of Business which include:

1. Accounting

2. Marketing

3. Networking

4. Product -designing

 

Deepa ma’am also told about the importance of active participation, good communicating skills and the importance of remembering things.

Ma’am also shared additional information about the “NATIONAL STARTUPS DAY” which is celebrated on 16th January.

Overall, the session stressed on the quate that “AWARENESS MAKES YOU ALERT”. At the end of the session ma’am gave them all homework where they all were expected to find information about their favourite start up from India. Options like Nykaa, Licious, Swiggy, Udaan, etc were also provided by ma’am.

 

SESSION 2

The 2nd session was held on 4th October at 11.45am to 12.30pm in the presence of Life school teacher Seema ma’am.

In the second day ma’am briefly explained them about one of the most important aspect of business, which is SWOT.

S – Strength (Positive qualities, unique techniques)

W – Weakness (Limitations, dependency)

O – Opportunities (Coverage, collaborations)

T – Threats (Competition, policies)

 

Then, ma’am explained them about the “ESSENTIAL STEPS TO WORK FOR BUSINESS IDEA”, The steps include:

  • Idea generation
  • Problem identification
  • Target customers
  • Research
  • Resource planning
  • Competition analysis
  • Team management
  • Decision
  • Pilot study
  • Feedback
  • Improve
  • Execute

At the end of the session ma’am gave them the task where they had to write a SWOT diagram for themselves.

 

SESSION 3

The 3rd day session was held on 5th October, 11.45am to 12.30pm in the presence of

Life school teacher Mrs. Priya Singh.

In the 3rd day session, they discussed about the skills which are required for business idea.

    • Perseverance: Determination
    • Organisation: Discipline
    • Commitment: Idea of not giving up
    • Negotiation: Financial importance
    • Sales: Every business is sales driven
    • Communication: Speaking skills
    • Time management: Deadlines, submission of work
    • Problem solving: Dealing with different situations
    • Attention to detail: Detailing
    • Product life cycle

 

SESSION 4 AND 5

The 4th and 5th workshop held on the same day, 7th October at 1.15pm to 2.45pm , in the presence of teachers Miss Vrushali and Mrs. Priya Singh.

In the last session the students proceeded with their presentation (they had to present a start-up in India) . Ma’am gave them the review of their presentation as well as she told them about the opportunities the students have today, to start any kind of business . the session ended when Sheetal maim proposed the Vote of thanks.

In a nutshell, the workshop organised for them was very informative and interactive. Rd. Deepa Sathe ma’am’s excellent teaching skills made the workshop more interesting.

I found the business idea workshop to be incredibly beneficial. The workshop content was comprehensive and well-structured, offering a deep dive into the intricacies of developing a successful business concept. The Business Workshop conducted by Deepa Ma’am was a great boost for me to explore more about entrepreneurship.

She used simple terms, was very friendly and conducted interactive sessions instead of lectures which really helped connect more to the topic.

From this workshop, I learned that how we can think of new ideas for a start up and work on the same. It was a very helpful workshop for all of us.. everything was from started scratch, so I found it very interesting.
