Activity– The Arts department decided to conduct a collaborative activity based on the film Gandhi by Richard Attenborough. It was decided to screen the movie online for the students. Thereafter the students of History would review the freedom struggle through a timeline of events leading up to Independence. The students of Psychology would link the psychological effects of the struggle and particularly the Partition. The students of Political science would analyse and give their opinion regarding Gandhiji’s Ideology and its implication in the 21st century. The students of English took the same topic further through different writing skills.

The History activity on 5th October,2021 was a slickly produced presentation with comperes taking us through the main events of the struggle interspersed with information provided by students and short video clips. It was well appreciated by the students and teachers who attended. The objective of stirring patriotic sentiments was undoubtedly achieved.

The Psychology Activity on 6th October,2021 was based on the psychological impacts faced during the freedom and also its repercussions faced by individuals even today and across generations. Students largely contributed on elaborating the events followed by having an opinion on how had that even cause distress to individuals, using videos and a skit. Everyone who attended the program were overwhelmed by the student’s approach. The objectives of this event were largely met.

The Political Science Activity on 8th October ,2021 was based on a debate conducted by the students of political science students and the Arts Department, the Topic of the debate was Gandhiji’s Perspective and ideology and its relevance in the current political scenario.

The students were divided into two groups as for “For and Against” and they have expressed their own individual opinions regarding the topic. The Debate was indeed a very interactive and interesting and the students have critically analysed the screening of the movie GANDHI and very nicely presented in the discussions held, overall the activity went well and all the teachers too took part in the debate and expressed their own opinion.
