To commemorate 30 years of excellence of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College, students of Swayam: The Start-Up Spirits successfully organized a Food Fest on 23rd December 2025. On the same day, the cultural programs were also organized for students.
The event was entirely student-driven, providing a perfect platform for experiential learning and practical exposure to entrepreneurship. The uniqueness of the Food Fest lay in the fact that the entire process—from planning to execution—was managed by students. Students took responsibility for ideation, budgeting, procurement, pricing, promotion, sales, and customer interaction, thereby gaining hands-on experience in real-world business operations.
The fest featured a variety of attractive stalls offering delicious food items such as Nachos with Cheese, Sandwiches, Bhel, Cold Coffee, Mojito, and Chocolate Fudge. In addition to food stalls, a creative stall showcasing handmade bead bracelets and phone charms, crafted by students, received special appreciation and encouragement from visitors.
Through this activity, students developed and applied essential entrepreneurial skills including marketing strategies, financial planning, teamwork, communication skills, social media promotion, and customer management. The fest also helped enhance students’ confidence, leadership qualities, and decision-making abilities.
The Food Fest was well-received by students and staff and added vibrancy to the celebrations of the college’s milestone year. Overall, the event was a great success and stood as a true reflection of student innovation, initiative, and entrepreneurial spirit fostered by the institution.
