Model United Nations also known as MUN IS an educational simulation where students role play as delegates from different countries to discuss and debate global issues. Participants learn about diplomacy, international relations and the functioning of the United Nations.
The first intra Kaveri Literati MUN received tremendous response by students of all three schools and the enthusiasm and energy of the students has been contagious. On the day of the event, the atmosphere was electrifying and charged. This Intra fest is a culmination of incredible teamwork, professional development and personal growth of 60 students of all three schools divided into a mix of four committees who worked together – sometimes as an opponent and sometimes working together as allies.
For the KHS MUN we chose four committees such that we could align with four sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
1. The Committee proceedings, in each committee, began with opening statements from the countries regarding their views on the issues at hand, and their policies in Curbing similar issues.
2. Later, the committees discussed specific sub issues within the broader agenda, to tackle specific problems and come up with unique solutions for the same.
3. Then the committee moved on to the crisis sessions, where the delegates intuitiveness and stands on foreign policy were put to test.
4. After that the committees proceeded towards a more solution- oriented discussion and negotiation among themselves, creating groups/alliances and presenting the final documents on the floor of the committee.
5. Finally, the working papers were voted upon and the committees enjoyed their success. Following which, a small session of fishbowl was initiated at the end.
