Mock United Nations or MUN conducted by Dynamic Training Institute, is a very interesting and hands on experience which recreates the proceedings of the United Nations.
This year, the session was conducted on 23rd and 24th of December 2023 at Symbiosis International School, Vimanagar. The contact person from Dynamic Training Institute, Mr Rehaan Memon, worked with, Mrs. Anuradha Adhav and Mrs. Kanchan Bhat, the incharge teachers of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Ganeshnagar. A total of 30 students were selected across grades VII to IX and they were trained for the final sessions via online and offline mode. The students role played as representatives of different countries in UN committees like the General Assembly, Security Council etc. They were trained to research, understand and debate over world issues.
Benefits for students on attending MUN sessions :
1. A platform to overcome fear of speaking and becoming confident speakers and presenters.
2. Enhancing their knowledge and developing critical thinking through understanding world issues and debating over them.
3. Develop and practice leadership skills.
4. Promotes problem solving using creativity and thinking out of the box.
5. Improving written and oral communication.
6. Develop research skills to ensure continuous learning.
7. Create a solution oriented mindset instead of a problem focused mindset.
The students had two days of extensive sessions beginning as early as 7.30 am to as late as 9.30 pm. Their hard work and efforts bore fruit as we had five winners :
1. Manas Bendale and Anaya Parnaik (VII B) won ‘Best Delegate’ Trophy
2. Neel Deshpande (VII A) won ‘Honarary Award’ Certificate
3. Saanvi Joshi (IX C) and Tejal Bhatewara (VII A) won Verbal Recognition.
All the students had a very enriching, engaging and amazing experience and they came back richer with knowledge and ideas.
