Bal Sangeet evum Nrutya Mahotsav was organized by Dr Kalmadi Shamarao High School Ganeshnagar to promote Indian classical music and dance among the budding artists. This competition started on a small scale with the events in vocal classical and instrumental categories. As a response to the tremendous enthusiasm, for the Bal Sangeet Mahotsav, the school added a new category of classical dance and a category of semi classical form that is Natya Sangeet. This is the only one of its kind event organised at the school level. The school takes immense pride in celebrating its 26th year of musical journey.
The journey of this competition, which stared on 31st July, is an interesting one. Different performances under the categories of Classical vocal, Instrumental and dance were conducted. The audience witnessed the enthralling and captivating sessions and gripping performances by the young and talented participants. Eminent personalities from the field of music provided their valuable guidance, in order to enrich the skills of the budding artists. This riveting event ended with the prize distribution ceremony at the hands of the honourable members of the management, the principals and teachers of various schools and in the presence of the very special Chief Guest – Shri Amar Oakji , renowned basuri wadak.
The most important objective, of Bal Sangeet Evam Nritya Mohotsav is to promote young talent in Indian classical Music & Dance and create greater awareness about the rich culture and heritage, of the performing Arts. This week long event, saw the participation of more than 15 top schools of Pune who took an active part in this competition
There was an overwhelming response of more than 230 participants, across Pune .This is the highest in numbers of the event conducted so far.
• The events conducted were broadly under 2 categories:- Junior and Senior
• Junior category – Abhang, Classical vocal, Classical dance
• Senior categories – Classical vocal ,Natyasangeet
• Classical dance – Solo and group.
The culmination of this electrifying event generated a huge applause and appreciation from the parents and teachers alike, living up to the school’s tradition of conducting another mega event.
