The 5th of June was World Environment Day, and we at Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Ganeshnagar, are proud to share the series of events that took place in our school. Students from KHSG conducted a survey on cleanliness awareness, habits, and action. They were stationed at various points around our school, during which they asked 170+ people from different backgrounds and age groups about their views and habits related to cleanliness issues in Pune. Some of our students also got a chance to plant trees and work with an NGO near the spot they were stationed.

We had an interactive session with Mrs. Amita Deshpande, the founder of ReCharkha, who shared her experience and journey and gave us tips about sustainable living. She helped us understand the importance of Refuse…Reuse…Recycle in order to minimize the use of plastic. Our students learned a lot and are sure to incorporate these tips into their day-to-day lives.

Additionally, our collaboration with Thum Creative, an NGO that recycles plastic into fuel, played a crucial role in our environmental initiatives. Through their support, we were able to collect an impressive 900 kgs of plastic during the 2022-23 academic year. This remarkable achievement demonstrates the dedication of our students and staff towards waste reduction and environmental conservation.
