The “Dress the Door” activity” was conducted for grade 5 on 2nd December 2022.
The objective of this activity was to decorate the doors, soft boards, blackboards and walls of the classroom with posters or artefacts related to the topic of the presentation.
This activity was an excellent tool that allowed the students to develop curiosity, share ideas, and collectively galvanize these ideas to bring something innovative into implementation.
The students also worked in groups which developed their communication, social and moral skills.
The class teachers of standard 5 were given the freedom to choose the topic. After an intensive brainstorming session with the children, teachers finalised their topics and started working on their presentations.
The topics decided from class 5A to 5F were Mobile Applications, Noise and Air pollution, The World of Sound, Superhumans of the Society, My 1% towards sustainable living, Wheels to Vehicles.
Every student participated actively in making charts, props, skits, videos, raps, songs and games.
The students came up with different ideas on how the topic can be presented through group research, which helped them improve their cooperation and bonding.
Few parents of standard 7 were judges. Several key criteria were considered, such as Creativity, Relevance, Presentation and Overall impression.
The winners were announced at the end of a fun-filled day:
Class 5A and 5C won the best overall impression,
5B and D won the best presentation,
5E won the most relevant topic, and
5F won the most creative.
As a result of this activity, students sharpened their 5C’s: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Character.
