Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College organized a unique marathon, “Peace–a–thon: Run for Peace”, on Sunday, 14th December. This event was not merely a health-oriented run; its primary aim was to spread the message of peace in society. Hence, the marathon has been aptly named Peace-a-thon.
This special initiative was undertaken to mark the college’s completion of thirty years. The event received an overwhelming response, with more than 900 citizens registering for participation. The marathon included three distance categories: 2 km, 3 km and 5 km. Children below the ages of 15, 13 and 11 participated in the 2 km run, those below 17 in the 3 km category, while the 5 km run was for the open group.
The marathon was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Punit Joshi general secretary BJP, election head BJP Kothrud constituency.
The race commenced at 5 a.m. Every participant was given a certificate, medal, and T-shirt, while the winners will be honoured with certificates and trophies.
The college expressed gratitude to all the sponsors to making the event possible. The college staff, along with Class XI students, worked as volunteers to ensure smooth arrangements and proper management throughout the event.
The college expressed confidence that this initiative will definitely succeed in spreading the message of peace in society.
