Reading Challenge for Teachers 2024-25

This academic year witnessed a special initiative for teachers — the Reading Challenge, introduced by our Librarian, Mrs. Ashwini Sarpotdar.

The inspiration behind this activity stemmed from the belief that educators must be well-read, continuously enriching their knowledge to enhance their teaching-learning process.

With this vision, the Reading Challenge was opened to all teachers, and 11 enthusiastic teachers participated. As part of the challenge, each teacher committed to reading three books over the year: one fiction, one non-fiction (such as a self-help book), and one subject-specific book.

To celebrate their efforts, a Book Sharing Session was held on April 23, 2025, in honor of World Book Day. During the session, teachers presented their book reviews and reflections. They were also given a post-activity self-reflection questionnaire to gather insights about their experiences and learning from the challenge.

Some of the titles explored by the teachers included Tuesdays with Morrie, Man’s Search for Meaning, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, The Silver Sword, Maktub, To Kill a Mockingbird, Attitude is Everything, Mindset, Moong over Microchips, how to make everyday Success, and The Four Purusharthas, among others.

The initiative was very well received, with all participating teachers agreeing that reading should be made a regular practice. Mrs. Ashwini Sarpotdar encouraged everyone to continue the tradition next year and extended an invitation to new teachers to join the initiative.

The book sharing session concluded with a token of appreciation: gifts were distributed by Mrs. Sumathi Srinivasan, Head Admin, Kannada Sangha and Principal Mrs. Shobha Channal. Additionally, personalized thank-you cards, handcrafted by Mrs. Ashwini Sarpotdar, were presented to the participants to recognize their enthusiasm and commitment.
