Appreciating the efforts of Community Workers

The Kalam Centre team, comprising students of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College, Pune organized an activity to highlight the efforts of community workers who contribute for society.

The activity took place over two days, 23rd and 31st August’ 2024.

 

The students visited various sites to obtain permissions for their visits. These sites included Alankar Police Station, Paud Road Police station, Nal Stop Metro Station, Kothrud Fire Station, Jeevan Jyoti and Shashwat Hospitals. The officers, doctors, and staff at these locations were happy to grant permission to the students for the planned activity.

 

During their visits, the students presented Thank You cards and Cadbury’s to community workers, appreciating their efforts in ensuring the smooth functioning of society.

 

Sweepers & security Staff of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College were also given Thank You Cards along with a cadbury to appreciate the efforts.

 

The students visited the Fire Station Museum within the Kothrud Fire Station premises. There, they learned about the training and equipment used by fire-fighters and even got to see the first fire truck used in Pune. The team found this experience fascinating and were happy to give back to society in their own small way.

 

Objectives of the Activity planned:

– To highlight the efforts of community workers who contribute to maintaining peace in society
– To inspire students to engage in selfless service and appreciate the value of giving back to society

 

Outcomes of the Activity:

1. Appreciation for community workers: The students showed gratitude and appreciation to the community workers, including sweepers, college security staff, police officers, doctors, and hospital staff, for their efforts in maintaining peace and order in society.

 

2. Increased awareness: The students gained insight into the roles and responsibilities of various community workers and the importance of their contributions to society.

 

3. Development of empathy and compassion: By engaging with community workers and presenting them with Thank You cards and chocolates, the students developed empathy and compassion for those who serve others.

 

4. Experiential learning: The students had a hands-on experience of giving back to society, which taught them the value of selfless service and community engagement.

5. Enhanced teamwork and collaboration: The Kalam Centre team worked together to plan and execute the activity, promoting teamwork and collaboration among the students.

 

6. Inspiration and motivation: The experience inspired and motivated the students to continue giving back to society in their own small ways.
