Event: Orientation Programme for Class XI Students and Parents
“Welcoming new students is like opening a door to endless possibilities and opportunities.”
Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College, Pune, organized an Orientation Programme for Class XI students and their parents on 12th August 2024 for the Commerce and Arts streams, and on 13th August 2024 for the Science stream. The event took place in the college auditorium and was conducted in two sessions each day.
The program began with a warm welcome to the parents, followed by the traditional Lamp Lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana. Mrs. Smita Pradhan, provided a brief introduction about the institution, setting the tone for the event.
The programme was graced by esteemed members of the Management. Secretary, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi and Vice President Dr. Narayan Hegde attended the first and second sessions, while Principal Mrs. Shobha Channal, along with PTA members Mrs. Harshada Sharma, Mrs. Manjiri Bhindwale, Mrs. Tanuja Inamdar, and Mrs. Deepti Chopda, attended the third and fourth sessions.
The chief guest’s speech struck a perfect balance between practical advice and heartfelt encouragement, leaving the audience feeling empowered and ready to embrace new challenges. This was followed by the principal’s address, which provided guidance on ensuring a smooth transition for students. The session also included a detailed overview of the learning parameters, teaching methodologies, and pedagogies followed at the college. The theme, “Navigating the path to success together!” resonated throughout the event.
Parents were informed about the college’s achievements and milestones, with PTA members expressing their deepest gratitude through heartfelt speeches, commending the college’s commitment to a holistic development approach.
The primary aim of the programme was to familiarize both the students and the parents with the curriculum, rules, regulations, and various activities planned for the upcoming academic session. The college also showcased its unique programmes and initiatives, such as the CET Cell for science students, the Gifted Nurturing Programme, Kalam Centre, Swayam (Life School), Astitva (The Eco Club), Hirayat (The Cultural Club), and the Library. Registrations for the same were collected outside the auditorium. The college counsellor emphasized the importance of mental health and encouraged parents and students to embrace counselling as a tool for unlocking their true potential.
In recognition of the collective effort that shapes the institution, the Principal introduced the Stream In-charges, department heads, and non-teaching staff. To provide a break from the formalities, a delectable spread of refreshments was served during the orientation, allowing participants to connect, recharge, and fuel their enthusiasm for the program. PTA forms were also collected during the event.
The programme concluded with a spectacular cultural event that was well-received by both students and parents.
