The Kaveri Inspire Internship Camp 2024 was held on 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th March2024.
The Objective of the camp was to give our students hands- on experiences and practical approaches to learning various concepts related to Science, Commerce and Arts subjects. Field visits were organized to various organizations as a part of the Inspire camp for students of Arts, Commerce and Science.
Day – 1: 1st March 2024
Dr. Ramkrishna Bhat from the Chemistry Department at IISER, was the chief guest who inaugurated the camp. Dr. Bhat presented and discussed various interesting factors related to science and ancient India connect. He motivated the students as a proud Indic and inspired them to do their best in each field.
Dr. Madhuri Chittewan, Principal of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College briefed students about how the Inspire Camp was initiated and what was expected of the students too.
The same afternoon, the science students attended a session ‘Wonders of Physics’ facilitated by Shri. B D Chakrabarty who demonstrated simple physics experiments by using various unique scientific equipment designed specially by him.
R K Laxman Museum
A visit to the R K Laxman Museum was organized for the Arts students with an objective to know and understand various facets of R K Laxman, a famous Indian cartoonist, humorist , illustrator.
Students witnessed the story narration of his life and Sound and light show depicting the memorable world of Malgudi days, the stories by R K Narayan, a famous author. Wall Art full of his sarcastic cartoons on World social, political, economic happenings was worth analyzing.
G. D. Apte CA Firm
For the Commerce students, a visit was organized to G. D. Apte CA Firm with an objective of giving them practical experience of accounting. The session revolved around what is Chartered Accountancy, how the G. D. Apte CA Firm operates, what is a role of a CA in various sectors.
Day- 2: 2nd March 2024
Zapurza
A visit to Zapurza art museum was organized for the students of arts and Commerce. Students not only looked and enjoyed various art displays but also connected their learning to arts and commerce. They saw a display of traditional jewellery, display of weaves on India where the traditional handlooms, weave types in the paithani saree and the shela.
They interviewed Shri. Dileep Joshi an NID student who shed light of design and talked about Zapurza at length too.
Day- 3: 4th March 2024
A visit to IISER for Science students was organized where students got the opportunity to conduct experiments and physics activity in the classroom on their own. They also met and interacted with a PhD student who talked about her work and life at IISER too.

Day- 4: 5th March 2024
Science Students went to three different industries – Bharat Forge, Tata Motors and Autodynamics.
Bharat Forge
The students had a golden opportunity to interact with Amit Kalyani and solve queries. Dr. Leena Deshpande explained the factory while they also got a chance to understand organizational culture there.
Tata Motors
Students were introduced to Tata Motors and visited training centres, dye workshop, commercial gear factory, assembly of heavy vehicles etc. They thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the learnings.
Autodynamics
Autodynamics Technologies and Solutions Pvt Ltd is a company which use light weight technology by injection molded composites. Students were given exposure to the entire process through which they could gather information right from designing to production processes. They also got thorough understanding of polymer behavior of variety of different plastics applications.
Chitale Factory
Commerce students went to visit Chitale factory to understand the working and finances of running a factory. interaction with a Quality control head ,Production and HR heads who answered many queries as well.
FTII
Arts students went to visit FTII, where students visited the amphitheater, the editing and television rooms, The visit was fruitful for the students who understood sound effect editing, 3 d technology, how shoots were done frame by frame and film, making too. Television recordings, its studio, dolby theater effects were also experienced by the students.
Day-5: 6th March 2024
IUCAA
The visit commenced with an introductory and informative session by Mr. Bhushan Joshi, a prominent Scientist of IUCAA. Mr. Prasad Adkar, Scientific assistant (Astronomy and Astrophysics) conducted an interactive in question – answer form. He asked students many questions related to sun, moon, stars, planets and also gave information about careers in IUCCA. The tour included visits to tools used for theoretical and experimental research in Astrophysics. After that student had a photo session in the IUCCA campus and with statues of their role model scientists Newton, Galileo, Einstein etc.
PANAM
Students of commerce stream went to visit PANAM, It was exciting for students to see the Stock Exchange Terminal Live, the calculations on the terminal, know what BSE and NSC is, go through the chart of stock and how its demand and supply looks like. This was also followed by a session in the college campus regarding mutual fund and investments.
MIT Design School
Arts Students visited MIT Design The Dean started the session with an introduction to what a design school is all about and then went on to explain how each and everything is a design from a simple watch to fashion to computers. He then went on to provide stationary to students and asked then to draw a special chair that they feel is needed. He explained that they have to first come up with a purpose for it and then draw. Once the drawing and the purpose was discussed; he asked the kids to make a model of the same with craft paper. Most students had unique ideas of a chair and designed one but making a 3d model in 40 mins was an uphill task for most but they enjoyed the challenge Our ex-student also talked to the students. All in all the students enjoyed this visit.
The Camp ended with the valedictory function where all participants were given certificates in the hands of the Chief Guest Mr. Aditya Jhunjhunwala, Director, Sonar Casting limited as also many other companies and also assists students in higher education with hands on experiences. Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha spoke to the students and asked if they appreciated going out and getting hands on experiences. Parents of students were also present for the function and appreciated the efforts of the college.
