Date: 20/01/2024 – 25/01/2024
Duration: 1.5 hours for 4 days.
The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) program spanned over four days and aimed to equip participants with essential tools to manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors effectively. Facilitated by KSJC counselors Smita Pradhan and Shounak Gokhale, the program commenced with an introductory session, focusing on the ABC model to illustrate the interplay between thoughts, beliefs, and emotions. Throughout the program, participants engaged in discussions on different levels of beliefs, cognitive traps, self-defeating beliefs, and automatic negative thoughts, accompanied by interactive activities and case studies to deepen understanding.
As the program progressed, participants delved into introspective practices, including mindfulness meditation and the analysis of personal thought patterns through self-talk exercises and automatic thought records. Practical tools such as thoughts and feelings records were introduced to aid participants in tracking their emotional states and promoting behavioral activation.
The final session introduced participants to personalized tools combining Automatic thought record, cognitive restructuring, and behavioral activation to effectively manage negative emotions in daily life.
Feedback from participants indicated a positive reception to the program, with many expressing gratitude for the practical strategies learned. Based on the responses for the quantitative questions within feedback form, students gave 4/5 stars for the overall session, effectiveness of the content and the facilitators. To sum up, the CBT program successfully empowered participants with valuable insights and skills to challenge negative thinking patterns and enhance overall well-being.
