The students of Swayam Start-up Spirits (KSJC) took an initiative in making handmade organic Diwali hampers, this was an engaging and joyful activity to celebrate Diwali festival. In the spirit of starting business from the scratch and also spreading happiness and good wishes, they came together to create beautifully crafted Diwali hampers. This report summarizes the planning, preparation, and outcomes of this delightful endeavour.
Objective: The primary goal of this activity was to instill a sense of community and goodwill among the students of Swayam (Std XI) while also promoting the importance of sharing and giving during Diwali, the festival of lights and developing the start-up skills from the scratch.
Planning: The preparation of the activity was initiated 3 weeks before Diwali to ensure ample time for planning and execution.
The following steps were involved in the planning phase:
Idea Generation: Swayam Students and teachers brainstormed ideas for the hampers, considering the products, design, and budget.
Budget Allocation: A budget was determined, keeping in mind the number of hampers to be prepared and the products of each hamper.
Sourcing Materials: A list of required materials, including decorative items, was created roughly. Students and teachers collaborated to procure these materials from various sources. Students from Marketing Department went to buy required products according to the prepared plan.
Work Schedule: A detailed schedule was developed to ensure that the preparation would be completed on time. Tasks were divided among the students, and each group was assigned specific responsibilities such as Accounts and finance, Social media, Technical, Photography, President, Vice-President and the Secretary of Swayam.
Roles and responsibilities: Each Group had a specific role in filling the hampers, such as arranging plan, managing accounts, buying organic and raw products, painting diyas with acrylic colours and envelopes painted with Mandala designs, preparing Utna (containing natural ingredients such as Chandan, Gulab churna, Santra churna) and soaps such as Kesar Chandan, Shea butter, Shahi rose for Abhyanga Snan, bath salts such as Golden musk and Euphoria, and Decorative wrapping pouches. All the prices of items included in hamper were reasonable and took customized orders from the KSJC- Principal Madam, Teaching and Non- teaching staff and the Management.
Quality Control: Teachers of Swayam, oversaw the process to ensure that each hamper met the quality and design standards set for the project, also the budget and profit analysis. Swayam students have poured their creativity into each hamper, weaving traditional Diwali elements with an organic twist, every detail reflects a commitment to sustainability.
