GNP webinar- by Ms. Pallavi Kajrekar

A session was organized for gifted students of KHS School and Junior College which was facilitated by Ms. Pallavi Kajrekar, an Astrophysicist.
She is the youngest Indian woman to be elected as a fellow member of the Royal Astronomical Society of London.
Her session revolved around an interesting topic ‘From Daring to Dream to Reaching the Cosmos’ which means that one can achieve his/her goal in life if one dares to dream.

 

Ms. Pallavi shared her life journey as a bachelor degree student of chemistry and shared about her research project in the field of Artificial Space Environment.
When asked about her interests in astrophysics, she said that creating an Artificial Space Environment for a Comet 67/P Churyumov-Gerasimenko was her dream project which was successful after its 3 failed attempts.
This project changed her life which brought the sense of belonging to herself.

 

Choosing your career wisely; importance of making a flowchart of pathways to career, taking your career to greater heights through consistency, connecting yourself with the community, impacting the society by your research work, act of balancing things in life, having interdisciplinary approach etc were the key points of the discussion.

 

She mentioned various sources for getting the authentic information needed for writing the research papers and the sources where they can be published. ( E.g- NASA/ISRO/DST websites and journals of NASA Citizen Society, Elsivier, Science Direct)
She also explained how being an artist have always helped her to bring pleasure in her challenging and alarming period of life.
The session was very inspiring and an enriching one.
