As a part of Illume, a session was arranged for students of Std. XI on the topic ‘Careers for History buffs’ facilitated by Ms. Devina Joshi, a person with huge a 22 years of experience in the field of education and currently a faculty at Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College, Pune.

Ms. Devina Joshi gave an overview of the various courses in Histroy that are offered by many colleges in India.
Students were also made aware of the changing trends and patterns in the undergraduate and post graduate courses in History currently.

The session revolved around many fields to which one can contribute with a background of History. She highlighted the roles like, researchers, research analysts, writer, teachers, paraleagal fields, political analysts, archeologists, curators and many more like these. The role of a person and the job responsibility of a person with a History background were emphasized upon. The session also highlighted the current trends and the changes that are brought in the field then and now. She quoted a few examples which clarified the scope of a few fields in India and abroad.

The session was well simplified for the students and the content was understanding friendly.
The session ended with question – answers and was appreciated by students.
