Just being Mindful

A session on Just being Mindful was organized for the students of grade XI on 22nd November 2022 in college premises. The session was facilitated by Ms. Sandy Dias, a Psychotherapist and a Founder-Director of Just Being Center for Mindfulness and Presence.

College life is known as one of the most memorable years of one’s life. Students, This College life is going to expose you to new experiences and things that you are not familiar with earlier. These are the crucial years when students enjoy the life to the fullest and also work towards their career path. Along with this, it also poses challenges, gives opportunities to socialize and expects every individual to be more responsible.
At this juncture, it was felt the need to introduce to them what is “Mindfulness”.

Being Mindful means being aware of your thoughts, emotions, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens and also, how you’re feeling both physically and mentally. Mindfulness is a form of meditation with an important aspect to it— acceptance… which was highlighted through the session. The session also emphasized on being there for yourself and accepting your feelings and thoughts.

The session went off well. Students could open up and share their thoughts and feelings freely. It was quite interactive. Ms. Sandy urged that we need to practice it for min 30 days to make it a part of our system.
