The Session was arranged for students of Std. XII on the topic ‘Careers in Economics and beyond’ facilitated by Mr. Ashish Kulkarni, faculty at Gokhale Institute of Economics, Statistics and Finance, Pune.
Mr. Ashish Kulkarni gave an overview of the various courses in economics and statistics at Gokhale Institute, Pune and other renowned institutes.

Students were also made aware of the changing trends and patterns in the undergraduate and post graduate courses in Economics as per the New Education Policy.
He spoke about all possible subject combinations like economics- Statistics, economics- political science, economics- marketing, economics- finance, economics- social studies and the varied importance of each one of them.
He also highlighted the job opportunities economists could have and their different job roles in various sectors such as industrial sector, companies, insurance, financial firms, investments, banking, pharmaceuticals and health care services.
He narrated his life journey from being an analyst in corporate to becoming a teacher by his own choice. He also spoke about himself as a blogger.

He mentioned the 3 major sectors where students with the qualification in economics can have their career chances which are Corporate, Think Tanks and Educational sector.
The session ended by question – answers and was appreciated by students.
