On 3rd July 2024, a stress management session was conducted by the in-house counsellors in room 301 at 11:45 am. The session aimed to equip students with practical tools and strategies to effectively manage stress during their academic year and beyond.

Objectives:

  1. To raise awareness about the causes and effects of stress among students.
  2. To introduce students to healthy coping mechanisms and relaxation techniques.
  3. To provide a supportive environment for students to discuss their stress-related concerns.

Session Overview: The session began with an introduction to stress, its common triggers among students, and its impact on academic performance and well-being. The facilitator emphasized the importance of recognizing stress early and addressing it proactively. The session started with an interactive discussion with students regarding their own experiences of stress and how they manage.

After the initial discussions, there was an activity conducted in which students were divided into two groups and each group was given a case to analyse. They were asked to identify the main stressors in the case as well as the best coping strategies to battle it. They were given around ten minutes to discuss it amongst themselves and then each group had a representative who read out their case and conclusions for everyone.

Information about types of stress, unhealthy ways of coping, and healthy stress management techniques were shared with students via the planned PPT. The students were quite interactive during this as well, offering their own inputs from time to time.

The session ended with positive feedback from students and a warm farewell.
