Alumni Katta Report

Date: 12 June, 2026

Venue: Senior College AV Room

The Gifted Nurturing Program organized an Alumni Katta on 12 June, 2026 in the Senior College AV Room.

The objectives of this event aimed-

  1. To provide Std XII gifted students with valuable insights into higher education and career pathways through interactions with the alumni.
  2. To motivate students by exposing them to alumni success stories, challenges they faced and the strategies they adopted to achieve their goals.
  3. To strengthen the connection between current students and alumni and help students understand different perspectives on board examinations, entrance examinations and nurturing giftedness.

With 29 alumni attending this Katta, we got an overwhelming response from them.

They were divided into two groups for interactive discussions. Senior alumni shared their experiences regarding life after Std. XII, choosing career paths and nurturing giftedness beyond junior college years. Alumni from the previous batch focused on balancing HSC Board examinations with various entrance examinations and discussed effective preparation strategies.

The current batch of gifted students actively participated by preparing and asking questions related to academics, career choices and personal growth. The discussions covered several important topics, including:

  • The importance of the HSC Board examinations and maintaining consistent preparation throughout the year.
  • Effective time management and the significance of the last two months before the board examinations.
  • Creating and following a study timetable from the beginning of the academic year.
  • Balancing preparation for board examinations and entrance examinations simultaneously.
  • The extreme importance of board examination performance for Arts stream students as their admission depends only on the board marks.
  • Exploring different career options before making decisions.
  • The value of thoroughly studying textbooks and maintaining a “mistake book” to learn from errors.
  • Understanding that every student has a unique path to success and that there are no shortcuts to achievement.
  • The benefits of writing down plans, goals and reflections to improve learning.

The senior alumni focused on nurturing giftedness, where they emphasized the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities. They encouraged students to seek leadership opportunities, identify their individual strengths and interests and continue exploring their hobbies and passions. Students were also motivated to actively participate in Gifted Nurturing Program sessions to strengthen peer bonding and personal development.

The Alumni Katta proved to be an enriching and inspiring experience for all participants. The event concluded with a group photograph and refreshments, which provided an opportunity for informal interaction between students and alumni.
