Date: 10th November 2025

Day: Monday

Venue: Auditorium

Kishore Sabha (A mock parliament session) was conducted at Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao Junior college with 34 students (25 students from KSJC, 7 students from KIS Lohegaon, 2 from KHS Baner) taking on the roles of Members of Parliament. The session focused on the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, which proposes a ban on online money-based games.

The Speaker opened the discussion, after which selected student MPs presented arguments both in favour of and against the bill.

  • Supporters emphasized the rising cases of addiction, financial losses among youth, and the need for strict regulatory mechanisms.
  • Opposing MPs argued that a complete ban could hinder the growth of the gaming industry, discourage innovation, and push players towards unregulated platforms. They suggested controlled licensing instead of an outright ban.

The debate was active and engaging, with participants demonstrating strong parliamentary etiquette and critical thinking. The session concluded with the Speaker acknowledging the constructive contributions of all MPs and highlighting the importance of informed policy-making in emerging digital sectors.

Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary Kannada Sangha, Our Principal Mrs. Shobha Channal graced the occasion. Many teachers and students witnessed the proceedings of the parliament.

Overall, the mock parliament an initiative of the Political Science department provided students with a practical understanding of legislative processes and public policy debates.
