Gifted Nurturing Program @ KSJC
A full-day session was conducted for the parents of identified gifted students on 12th July 2025. The session was led by the in-house gifted facilitators, with one segment presented by Dr. Devasena Desai, Associate Director, KCEGC.
The first segment of the session, titled Aap Ki Adaalat, opened with a warm welcome and set the tone for a unique, interactive experience. Designed like a courtroom, this activity encouraged open dialogue between parents and students. Common challenges such as media overuse, lack of communication, anger issues, and controlled parenting were brought to the forefront. In this virtual courtroom, both parents and students presented their perspectives and defended their actions and choices. A counsellor acted as the judge, listening to both sides before offering thoughtful reflections and practical solutions. The primary aim was to foster mutual understanding and empathy, helping families see that they are ultimately on the same side—working together to support one another. The session left participants with a stronger sense of unity and teamwork.
In the second segment, it was handed over to Dr. Devasena Desai, for the session on ‘Handling moods of the Gifted Adolescents’. She spoke about what teenagers really need from their parents. The session offered valuable perspective on when to step back and allow gifted adolescents to take ownership of their actions and choices. For many parents, it served as a moment of reflection—helping them recognize that their reactions, especially anger, are often misdirected. It became a moment of clarity, revealing the importance of conscious communication and trusting their children’s growing sense of responsibility.
The session went off very well, it was also well received and appreciated by the parents who attended the same.
