Session Report

With an objective of providing participants with key tools for effectively managing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) program took place over 3 days for XI graders.

The program began with an introductory session that focused on the ABC model, which explains how thoughts, beliefs, and emotions are interconnected. Over the course of the program, participants engaged in discussions about various types of beliefs, cognitive distortions, self-limiting beliefs, and automatic negative thoughts. These discussions were complemented by interactive exercises and case studies to get the students’ involvement and to deepen their understanding.

As the program continued, students took part in reflective practices, such as guided meditation, and worked on analysing their personal thought patterns through exercises like role plays, self-talk and recording automatic thoughts. Tools like thought and feeling logs were introduced to help students track their emotions and encourage behavioural activation.

Finally, students were introduced to personalized strategies that combined automatic thought records, cognitive restructuring, and behavioural activation to help them effectively manage negative emotions in their daily lives.

Feedback from participants showed a positive response, with many expressing appreciation for the practical techniques they had learned, and communication of the facilitators. According to the feedback form, students rated the overall session, content effectiveness, and facilitators 4/5 stars. In conclusion, the CBT program successfully provided participants with valuable insights and practical skills to challenge negative thought patterns and improve their overall well-being.
