Model United Nations 2024
- Proposal and Preparation Phase
The Model United Nations (MUN) initiative, proposed by one of our 12th grade student Ms. Aditi Joshi, successfully materialized with extensive planning and execution. The secretariat team, selected on 4th September, efficiently led the committees and managed logistics throughout the event preparation phase.
- Publicity and Engagement
The social media campaign on the college’s MUN Instagram handle was highly effective, with reels explaining the significance of MUN and promoting the event as a platform to enhance debating, leadership, and diplomatic skills. This campaign generated significant engagement among students, resulting in enthusiastic participation.
- Event Execution
The MUN was conducted on 30th of November and 1st of December 2024 as planned.
- Committees and Agendas: Three committees, including ECOFIN, DISEC and IP were simulated with agendas focusing on current global issues.
- Workshops: Training sessions prior to the event equipped participants with essential skills like public speaking, resolution drafting, and research.
- Delegate Participation: Students from 11th and 12th grades actively participated as delegates.
- Logistics: The venue was well-prepared, with country placards, flags, and necessary tech support ensuring a seamless event experience.
- Key Highlights
- The debates were engaging, with participants showcasing strong research and diplomacy skills.
- A mock MUN conducted in last week of October proved instrumental in preparing delegates and identifying areas of improvement.
- Media teams captured the event’s essence, sharing live updates and highlights on social media.
- Sponsorships and Partnerships
Local sponsors supported the event through materials like notepads adding to the event’s success.
- Post-Event Review
A review meeting was held to evaluate the event. Strengths included high student engagement, well-organized logistics, and impactful committee sessions. Suggestions for improvement, such as advanced training for participants and better outreach for external delegates, were noted for future events.
The MUN initiative was a resounding success, providing students with a platform to develop vital skills and fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and global awareness in the college.
