From New Faces to New Friends: Welcoming Our Grade 5 Students
To help our newly admitted Grade 5 students ease into their new environment, the Counselling Unit conducted an interactive and engaging orientation session called Hello KHS. The session focused on helping students get to know one another, build connections, and feel comfortable in their new school.
Through a series of thoughtfully designed activities—such as fun icebreakers, movement-based energizers, group sharing circles, and reflective exercises—students had the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their experiences from their previous schools, and express how they were feeling about this new beginning.
The session also introduced students to the role of the school counselor and how the Counseling Unit can support them throughout their school journey. It was heartening to see shy students open up, friendships beginning to form, and the group coming together as a community.
A wonderful start to their new journey—filled with laughter, connections, and confidence!
