Std 8 assembly

The Std. 8 assembly was presented on Tuesday, 24th January 2023. The theme was ‘Compassion and Gratitude’. The program began with the Ganesh Vandana as Lord Ganesh is known as the ‘Vighnaharta’, the one who clears all obstacles in our path. The dance was performed to the song ‘Gananayakaya ganadevataya’ by Shankar Mahadevan. This beautiful performance set a positive tone for the rest of the program. This was followed by a Marathi skit that emphasized the importance of gratitude and thankfulness towards others, especially the community helpers who make our lives easy. After this, there was a rap performance. Next, the students sang an English song titled ‘Stars shine in the Night’, which tells us that there is always light at the end of a tunnel and every morning begins with a ray of sunshine and hope. The dance performed to the song ‘Love You Zindagi’ brought much-needed energy to the entire program and the audience. After this, the students performed a powada. This stood out because it was in Hindi.

 

This was followed by the English skit ‘ Compassion – Key to Happiness’, which was all about kindness shown to humans and animals alike. The penultimate performance was the beautiful dance performed to the song ‘Ganga beheti hai’ by the Bharat Ratna awardee Shri Bhupen Hazarika. This performance brought out the need to respect and protect nature. It tells us how importance it is to show respect and gratitude towards all our natural resources. The assembly ended with the prarthana. After this, the chief guest Ninad Thakur who is a KHS alumnus and a social entrepreneur, spoke about his experiences of working with young entrepreneurs. Ninad has the Eleos Project, and organization committed to catalysing Social Change through Compassionate Youth Leadership.


The assembly ended with Pallavi Ma’am addressing the students and sharing her impressions of the programs she watched, after which the vote of thanks was given by the students.
