Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition has been conducted by Greater Bombay Science Teachers’ Association since 1981. This year around 37,000 students appeared for this exam including both 6th and 9th std. Out of these, 162 students of 9th std are awarded with the medals.This unique four stage competition aims at arousing curiosity, problem solving attitude along with development of precision in observational and motor skills in young scientists.

First stage is a written test from which the top 7.5 percent are selected for the second stage.

Second stage is Practical test from which the top 10% are selected for the next stage.

Third stage is an action research project. Here Aryansingh has chosen the topic as ‘Physical Exercise: A Way Forward To Boost Immunity’. This involved Aryansingh to gather knowledge around it by reading, communicating with experts by physical or online interview, collection of data using Google form survey and creation of final project report. Students completing this project go to the next round.

In the fourth round, Aryansingh went through two rounds of interviews. First one generic one based on science and second one based on an action research project.
Based on all these four rounds, Aryansingh has received a Bronze medal in the competition.

Experience with this exam was really good mainly the action research project where Aryansingh has to interact with different experts asking them right questions and also collecting the data using Google form survey. Overall, it’s a worthy journey to cherish
